Chieftain's Message

As a child I always dreamed of running off and stowing away on a ship bound for Scotland, where I could skip through the heather and the mist and sail away to the Isle of Skye.  Obviously I had a vivid imagination, but as soon as I graduated from High School in 1965 I decided to pursue my dream, so I applied to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.  To my surprise, I was accepted.  I packed my bags and flew off to a country where I had no friends, no family and no place to live.

I ended up living in Scotland for many years and the country still holds a special place in my heart.  Much later, living on the central coast of California my husband and I joined the Scottish Society but I never would have expected I'd ever become the Chieftain of the Society.

I am honored and excited to have been elected to this position.  I hope to continue on with the good work Guy Wallace has done to make us all aware of our Scottish history and heritage, and make the coming year a fun time for everyone.  I also hope that all the members of the society will join with me and take an active part in our society gatherings and celebrations.  PLEASE let me know of any ideas you have for guest speakers, or entertainment, or any subjects you would like us to explore.  I'm open to any suggestions!

Thank you again for everything,

Chieftain
